【アンカー】アメリカ (Anchor) The United States
〈スチームビール〉：カリフォルニア コモン (Steam beer; California common)
アンカーと言えば、スチーム。スチームと言えば、アンカー。
ゴールドラッシュの時代、大麦、ホップ、水のみを原料として
ビールづくりが始まります。冷蔵設備が整のわず、
本来低温発酵させるラガー酵母を、カリフォルニアの温暖な気候の中、
常温発酵させて生まれたのが、スチームビールです。
低温で発酵するラガー酵母を用いて、エールのように高温で発酵させる為、
樽を開けた際に炭酸が蒸気のように吹き出します。
その様子からスチームビールと名付けられました。
濃い琥珀色が特徴で、ラガー特有のコクとキレ、そして麦香がありながらも、
エールのような華やかな香りも兼ね備えたビールです。
ラガーとエールのいいとこどりから、ハイブリットビールとも呼ばれます。
ちなみに『スチームビール』という名称は、世界で初めてスチームビールを生み出した
アンカー社の登録商標です。
During the Gold Rush period, they started brewing beer using only barley, hop and water.
Without a cooling equipment, they naturally fermented lager yeast under the ordinary temperature of warm California, and created steam beer.
Lager yeast is supposed to be fermented under low temperature, but this beer is fermented under a higher temperature like ale. So as soon as the barrel is opened, carbon dioxide gushes out like steam. This is the origin of the name of this beer.
Its feature is its dark amber color. Its taste is rich yet sharp, and its aroma is lager-like malt yet gorgrous like ale.
It has the best feature of both lager and ale, so it is sometimes called "hybrid beer".
By the way, the name "steam beer" is a registered trade-mark of Anchor company, which created steam beer for the first time in the world.
〈リバティーエール〉：アメリカンペールエール (Liverty Ale) American Pale Ale
世界中のビール評論家が「捜してでも飲む価値あり」と評するアンカー社の名品。
熟成初期にアメリカ産のカスケードホップをタンクに投入(ドライホッピング)することにより、
特徴的な柑橘系やマスカットのような香りが生まれます。
この香りと、きめの細かい炭酸の泡が、絶妙なバランスを生み出し、
ペールエールらしい爽快な苦味と、ほのかに甘味が飲む人の心を虜にします。
アメリカン・ペールエールの教科書的ビールであり、
アメリカのマイクロブルワリー（地ビール醸造家）が必ずお手本とする
アメリカンペールエールを代表するビールです。
The masterpiece of Anchor company, Liberty Ale, is evaluated highly by the critics of beer in the world.
At the early stage of aging, American cascade hop is casted in the barrel (dry-hopping) to create the refreshing pale-ale aroma like citrus or muscat.
This aroma and fine form create a superb balance, and fascinate people with refreshing bitterness and slight sweetness.
It is what we call a role model of American Pale Ale, and American micro breweries always hold this beer up as a model of good beer.
